This outing starts at Puerto Pañuelo,
where you can arrive via the boat company’s private bus, the municipal
bus or in your own car. After 30 minutes of navigating Nahuel Huapi
Lake, you’ll arrive at Puerto Anchorena, located in the central
and most narrow section of Victoria Island. Here, a chairlift takes
you up to the café and balcony atop Bella Vista Mountain,
where you’ll soak in a spectacular view of Anchorena Bay, and the
Llao Llao Hotel and Puerto Pañuelo in the distance. Other
options include a short excursion to the old settlement at Puerto
Gross or to the pictographs and Toro Beach.
After
travelling a short distance by boat, you arrive at the Arrayan
Forest on the Quetrihue Peninsula. There, a 600-meter boardwalk
takes you through a truly magnificent forest of these remarkable
trees, known as ‘myrtle’ in English. In other places, the arrayan
grows individually and is relatively short, but here on the peninsula
you’ll discover a thick forest of pure arrayans, where the trees
reach an average of 18 meters. Some are 300 years old. It’s truly
one of a kind!
