Traveling down this beautiful route you’ll observe a astonishingly
wide range of landscapes, all located within this one privileged
region.
In the direction of San Martín,
the road is bordered by dense forests. It crosses rivers, creeks
and the edges of various lakes (Nahuel Huapi, Correntoso, Espejo,
Escondido, Villarino, Falkner and Machónico), where lakeshores
are marked by sandy beaches and gorgeous lookouts. On the edge
of Lacar Lake, we arrive at San Martín de los Andes for
lunch and a chance to discover the town.
The return to Bariloche takes us over Córdoba
Pass for a different but equally spectacular landscape. After
following the edge of Meliquina Lake, the forest disappears, opening
up for rock formations as strange as they are beautiful. Upon
arrival at Confluencia, the route travels along the incredibly
blue and snaking Limay River, through the “Enchanted Valley” (Valle
Encantada) and the “Amphitheatre” (El Anfiteatro). We stay beside
the river as far as its mouth at Nahuel Huapi Lake next to Bariloche.
